This Is The Most Famous Royal Engagement Ring of All Time
From Grace Kelly's 10-carat stone to Kate Middleton's sapphire-set stunner, there have been plenty of majestic royal engagement rings over the years. Some royals have championed traditional diamond settings and others have sported bands with pops of ruby-red, sapphire-blue and even orange.
And according to new Google research by Design Bundles, Meghan Markle’s engagement ring is the world’s most searched royal ring with 20,000 hits per month. The Duchess of Sussex’s sparkler pulls in double the searches of the second most Googled royal engagement ring: The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s.
“There are fewer rarer and more coveted pieces of jewellery in the world than royal engagement rings, and it’s fascinating to see whose rings come up as the world’s most searched,” said Design Bundles in a statement.
There was much speculation surrounding the ring with which Prince Harry proposed to Markle. Many thought he would choose something from his mother Princess Diana's jewellery box but he, instead, designed the ring himself.
The jewel is mounted with a three-carat white diamond from Botswana and two diamonds from one of Princess Diana's brooches sit either side. Markle had the ring redesigned in 2019, swapping the original's solid gold band for a micro-pavé one.
In an interview following their engagement, Markle described the proposal as: "Sweet and natural and very romantic". Prince Harry got down on one knee at their home, Nottingham Cottage, after the two shared dinner together.
